UK Parliament passes bill to trigger Brexit
A bill to enact Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union has passed through British Parliament 498 for, 114 against. After a referendum in 2016 when the British public shocked the world bravely choosing to leave the European, now almost 8 months later the Parliament has enacted the will of the people.
Last week British PM Theresa May was blunt with European leaders in address, where she said that if the EU tried to impose massive tariffs on the UK in retaliation to them leaving the union, they would simply find new trading partners. The Prime Minister said that any punitive actions against the UK would be, “act of calamitous self-harm” & promised to slash taxes in the UK to entice companies into the UK & away from the European Union.
