Body of Vietnam Veteran left stranded overseas by Australian government
Graham "Bill" Ashby was a veteran, a husband, a father & a grandfather who will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure of meeting the man who was the epitome of the Australian spirit.
Like many veterans, the war in Vietnam left Bill with memories that would haunt the most hardened Digger, but instead of letting those thoughts take him on a downward spiral, Bill used them as inspiration to help the people of Vietnam. Whether the local villagers needed a new house, drainage system or anything in between Bill was always there to lend a hand.
On Tuesday the 18th of April, Graham "Bill" Ashby passed away from a stroke while on yet another humanitarian trip to Vietnam. His family have flown out to Vietnam in hopes of bringing his body home, but their pleas for help from the Australian government have fallen on deaf ears.
With no help from the country that Bill so bravely served, his family have been left with no option left but to turn to the public. Below you will find a link to a GoFundMe that has been setup by his immediate family, any donation no matter how small will help.
Let's show this family Australia NEVER forgets their Diggers. https://www.gofundme.com/vietnam-war-veteran-needs-your-help
